            Schmitt wurde von der Staatsgalerie Stuttgart eingeladen anlässlich der Ausstellung “Make the Secrets Productive” zum 20. Todestag von Joseph Beuys eine Performance zu machen. Seine Performance ist eine Adaption an Beuys Arbeit “I like America and America likes me”, die 1974 in Rene Blocks Galerie in New York stattgefunden hat. Beuys äußerte sich in einem Video zu seiner Arbeit: “Hätte ich die Performance mit einem Bären gemacht, wäre alles anders geworden.” Schmitt fand bei weiteren Recherchen heraus, dass Elvis Presley bei einer Performance von Joseph Beuys beim Fluxus Festival in Wiesbaden anwesend war. Beuys war großer Presley Fan, während Presley ein großer Beuys Fan war. Da Beuys außerdem passionierter Sänger war, performte Schmitt an diesem Abend einen singenden Joseph Presley.

            Schmitt was invited by the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart to make a performance on the occasion of the exhibition "Make the Secrets Productive" on the occasion of the 20th death anniversary of Joseph Beuys. His performance is an adaptation of Beuys' work "I like America and America likes me", which took place in 1974 in Rene Block's gallery in New York. Beuys commented on his work in a video, "If I had done the performance with a bear, everything would have been different." Schmitt found out through further research that Elvis Presley was present at a performance by Joseph Beuys at the Fluxus Festival in Wiesbaden. Beuys was a big Presley fan, while Presley was a big Beuys fan. Since Beuys was also a passionate singer, Schmitt performed a singing Joseph Presley that evening.
